It is; i had lunch there today
There are no deliveries
Yes. you can call and reserve. They are tremendous people
Delicious Puerto Rican food. You definitely have to try their "mofongo"
Food is absolutely delicious. Pork was not dry. Chickening creole sauce was delicious and tender. Blood sausage, best I had I a long time as it was not gritty. The garlic sauce, I want that recipe. It's so good. I would have chosen to be rude and just drink that sauce. Its so rich in garlic.
The wait was long and the waitress we had was too busy flirting to remember to put our order in so we waited way longer than we should have. I really wanted this place to be good because they have potential but it was not what we had hoped for.The appetizer we had was good but the entrees were not. Edible? Yes. Good? Not by a long shot.
Went for lunch Saturday. Very crowded but the wait was only 10 minutes. Service, food and price were excellent. The waiter recommended chicken in garlic sauce. It was cooked to perfection and the serving was way more than I could eat. My wife had the baked salmon and loved it.
Great food, garlic sauce is to die for. A must try in old San Juan. Puerto Rican Staples but they knock it out the park with each dish. Quick and friendly service.
Terrible experience here. From the moment I arrived service here was not great. The hostess was indifferent and did not make an effort to put together a table for my party even though there were plenty of empty seats. Waited 30 minutes to finally be seated. Service was slow, waitress was rude. Ordered appetizers and after 30 minutes these still had not arrived. On top of that, a party that arrived after us got served their food while we were still waiting for appetizers. I do not recommend this place! Decor is cute though.
Love this place! Been coming here for years since I first came to PR, fantastic mofungo and the red snapper is delicious. Food is always very fresh!
Our tour guide told us we needed to check the place out and it definitely didn’t disappoint! Authentic Puerto Rican cuisine with friendly wait staff and a quick turn around.
The food and dessert were delicious!! Great place for real Puerto Rican cuisine. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend it.
Really good authentic Puerto Rican food and tasty sangria. A good option in Old San Juan.
My first time having mofongo and it was AMAZING. It was moist, yet crunchy and SO flavorful. Wow. The staff is friendly and our food came out fairly quickly. They did however forget our drinks and still tried to charge us for it.
Our to go place in Old San Juan hands down. The best Yuca Mofongo I've ever had. Their three Flans of choice are exceptional (Vanilla, coconut & Cheese). Also their mini size pastelillos were awesome.
This was the worst restaurant and service I have ever experienced. The food was incredibly dry and flavorless. My boyfriend’s pork was so dry you couldn’t bite into it. We waited over 20min after being seated for water. The server never once checked on us during the meal. I had to pull someone else to get me a spoon for my soup. He tried to charge us for bottle water after I was clear we would only take tap. He removed my plate from under me before asking while I had food in my hand. The salad was lower quality iceberg lettuce and tomato than I’d expect from fast-food. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Very friendly atmosphere and service. Prices affordable. Good food.
Nice place to eat. Had fried red snapper it was good and plantain covered beef. It was good. And had flueche coco I hope I wrote it right, but it was also good.
If you want good local food in Old San Juan, this is a place you have to go. Good price also. Sometimes the wait is long. Friendly service.
Delicious food, great atmosphere and customer service! I would 100% recommend!
Good food. Nothing fancy but an authentic feel in Old San Juan. Lot of options even for vegetarians and the staff are very helpful. The cab driver appreciated the choice when I mentioned the name. Trying it out without expectations will help to appreciate the place.
Moderately priced. Service was good. Food is excellent! Most definitely recommend.
I don't give out many five star reviews, because most places can stand a little improvement. And while that may be so here, the food more than makes up for any perceived shortcomings. This is the only one of the highly recommended restaurants we visited during this stay in Old San Juan, that I can say the food was simply outstanding. Service was good, the vibe was totally Puerto Rico, and each dish was unique and made with obvious care. Move this place to the top of your list, and don't miss the garlic sauce!
SO good. Casual. Very spicy hot sauce and food gets 5 stars.
Amazing food and great staff. The recommendations that we got were spot on. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for some good authentic food from Puerto Rico.
First time, the experience was excellent! Barely waited 10 minutes for a table. Food was very good!! Our server (Ángel) did a great job! Definitely we'll be back.
It's a cute little place and somewhat attentive staff. But we waited nearly 45 min to get seated, 20 to get our orders taken, and never really got our food. Other clients who arrived after us ended up getting seated and served before us
The best homemade food in old san juan. The food taste really good like homemade and great customer service. I definitely recommend this place if your in old San juan.
After taking in a few sites we caught a local and asked her what was the best place to find some amazing food. We wanted something authentic and I think we came to the right place. Cold beer and amazing food. The service was great . We will definitely be back!
Awesome place! Great atmosphere, wonderful food. Ask for Wanda. She will take great care of you.
Your Local spot for rice beans and a well seasoned skirt steak. Fernando our waiter was very attentive and knew what we should try on the menu. 7$ guava & rum cocktail, not bad at all. Overall pleased.
Definitely not worth the hype. Food was not good at all and the service is very rushed. Got a "churrasco" but it was raw and it was like chewing on gum. I understand they are not a steak house but that was not a churrasco. Not recommended.
I visit El Jibarito on every trip to Puerto Rico. Back to the days when the the founder and owner greeted customers at the restaurant. Over the years the restaurant seemed to have been passed on to other family members. The service has erroded to an incompetent level that is driving this rating. The food is still good and authentic. However, asked for water three times, waitress brought wrong drinks to the table, had to be reminded twice on a request for a side of sauteed onions, then went to take another table orders while we continued waiting for the onions. The service is despondent and indifferent. El Jibarito has lost the home food feel, to an incompetent meal service. A real disgrace. Will rather go to Cafe Manolin, great service, great authentic food quality and fair price.
We were recommended this restaurant but I have to say the service was the worst I have ever experienced. The server all but ignored us. We had to keep asking for the drinks we ordered and try to get the check. We had to ask another server to get it. When we went to pay our server snatched the card from us without a smile. The food was so,so. I don't know why so many people recommend it.
I loved this restaurant! It was a very nice escape from the brutal heat outside and it was super cool. Our lunch was amazing and so were the drinks. The staff was also super helpful and kind!
Best pasteles of my life! We went twice to eat! I just want to say thank you for having great prices on awesome food! San Juan restaurants are expensive and this place was great! Staff was friendly and enjoyable.
Great food and great service, worth to visit. Good price
Atmosphere was good with mostly large tables to sit with others. Lively and excellent service. Food was good but nothing memorable. Had the snapper and chicken stew. Have had better.
Fantastic food, atmosphere, and service. A little gem on Old San Juan. Daily specials and true Puerto Rican food. Highly recommended!
The food was superb and reasonably priced. The service could have been a bit better, but the food was delicious and authentic. Mojito was one of the best I have had!
The food was so delicious we went back again. It's small and you may have to wait depending on the time of day. The staff were great and fun. There was some wait time so expect that. Mind you I haven't been back in a couple of years but still remember how good the food was.
Came at 3pm and seated right away. Less than $20 for a tasty meal with authentic flavors. A great find in OSJ
Food and server were excellent. Prices were better than expected. Its a couple blocks from the busy streets. Parking was available on street. Thanks El Jibarito for a great experience.
We came here on the labour day evening and waited for less than 10 minutes to get a table. The restaurant was fully packed though. The restaurant is small, but it feels like you are eating at someone else’ house. It took a while for the dish to arrive, but the red snapper was fantastic. The shredded pork with rice was also amazing.
Well priced with decent vegetarian options... not necessarily entrees but can make it up by ordering multiple appetizers...be sure to try the Butter sauce and the hot sauce (both made at the restaurant)
This is the BEST restaurant I've ate at on my surprise birthday trip to Puerto Rico. The food was delicious, authentic and flavorful. Everything was amazing!!!!
Trefongo was out of this world. Everything was delicious and perfectly seasoned. A great restaurant loved by tourists and locals alike. Reasonably priced excellent food.
We came to this restaurant after reading some reviews on Google. The place was packed but we were seated after 5 minutes at a table for four. The food was great but the fried red snapper was one of the best fish I ever had. We also ordered shrimp in garlic sauce and that was amazing. My wife and I shared both plates. If you are looking for authentic Puerto Rican food I highly recommend this place.
Excellent Puertorican food. Nothing fancy, no experimental dishes here. Just solid tasty PR dishes. Everybody at my table was very happy with the food and the atmosphere. Tight quarters when busy. We went on a Tuesday night and the place was packed. Can't imagine when cruise ships come in on Wednesdays. No parking available. Those are the only reasons it's 4 star review, not 5.
Will never go there everyone else got seated we seated ourselves waited ten minutes for a menu and then another ten before we left but everyone around us was getting A1 service
By far, one of my favorite restaurants on the island. No fancy views but some of the best food (and a well stocked bar). The wait staff is super friendly and speak English if that's an issue for you.
The initial presentation was horrible however food was amazing!!! The trifongo was delicious and the shrimp was well seasoned. Looks can be deceiving. This was probably the best trifongo I’ve had. Would of been 5 stars if the customer service was up to par!
This is one of the places we always visit whenever we are in Puerto Rico. Love it.
Visited from Michigan, food was awesome! Highly recommend this local restaurant. Plan on parking in a garage however, not many spots on the street and wouldn't recommend parking on it, spend the 10 dollars, hit the restaurants, you wont be disappointed.
